First congress on Science and Skiing in the low lands

An initiative from BRU-ST and Vrije Universiteit Brussel
Supported by the Belgian and regional ski- and snowboard federations

Dear friends,

ILLCSS is a new organisation that strives to combine academic experience with high performance ski racing and snowboard experience. The Low Lands are a non alpine area. All the same thousands and thousands of highly motivated people go skiing every year. The last couple of years, Belgian ski racers and snowboarders have begun to achieve promising results in high ranking competitions.

The Brussels Ski Team and the Vrije Universiteit Brussel joined forces with the support of the Belgian and regional ski federations (KBSF/FRBS, VSSF and FFBS) to create the first International Low Lands Congress on Science and Skiing.

The aim of the congress is to support evidence-based professionalism in ski and snowboard training and coaching, to promote skiing sports and facilitate training and coaching for young people in countries that do not have natural skiing facilities.

The Chairman of the Scientific Committee, Prof. dr. Evert Zinzen, will ensure the high scientific quality of the congress. Four keynote speakers have been invited. The oral presentations will be divided into four sessions, and poster sessions will also be organised.

As capital of Europe, Brussels will host the first ILLCSS. So please join us and make the most of a real opportunity to share and transmit scientific knowledge and to meet other people with the same passion for snow sports.

Welcome in Brussels on October 11, 2008.

Wouter Van den Broecke, Congress President
